DHAKA -- Bangladesh reported 11,463 new COVID-19 cases and 245 new deaths on Monday, making the tally at 1,365,158 and death toll at 22,897, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said.

The official data showed that 47,207 samples were tested in the last 24 hours as of 8:00 a.m. local time Monday across Bangladesh. (Bangladesh-COVID-19)

JAKARTA -- A new study conducted by the Indonesian Health Ministry has showed that China's Sinovac vaccine was proven to effectively protect those aged above 60 years old from having COVID-19 symptoms and from mortality caused by the disease.

The ministry's study was aimed at examining the effectiveness of the Sinovac vaccine, and measuring how well it works when given to the elderly in the community outside of clinical trials. (Indonesia-Sinovac-Efficacy)

KUALA LUMPUR -- Malaysia reported another 17,236 new COVID-19 infections, the health ministry said on Monday, bringing the national total to 1,279,776.

Health Ministry Director-General Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a press statement that 29 of the new cases are imported and 17,207 are local transmissions. (Malaysia-COVID-19)

JAKARTA -- The Indonesian health ministry reported on Monday that the number of coronavirus cases across the country rose by 20,709 within the past 24 hours to 3,686,740, with the death toll adding by 1,475 to 108,571.

Additional 44,959 recovered patients were discharged from hospitals, raising the total number of recoveries from the pandemic in the Southeast Asian country to 3,129,661, according to the ministry. (Indonesia-COVID-19)

NEW DELHI -- India's COVID-19 tally rose to 31,969,954 on Monday as 35,499 new cases were registered during the past 24 hours across the country, showed the federal health ministry's latest data.

Besides, as many as 447 deaths due to the pandemic were reported since Sunday morning, taking the total death toll to 428,309. (India-COVID-19)
